FTCE Computer Science K-12

Workshop Description:
Prepare for the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE) Computer Science K–12 exam through this hands-on professional development series for current and aspiring computer science educators. Participants strengthen their understanding of key FTCE competencies, including programming, computational thinking, networking, cybersecurity, and computer science pedagogy, through guided instruction, practice activities, and collaborative learning. Educators leave with the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue Computer Science K–12 certification.

CodeAI AI Foundations

Participants: High School Teachers
Workshop Description:
Designing and Building with AI equips students to become intentional designers who work alongside AI to build meaningful, interactive web apps. Students learn JavaScript while using AI to generate, adapt, and refine code across HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, developing computational thinking, human-centered design, and systems thinking skills. Across a progression of projects, they design and build interactive applications that are both technically functional and ethically informed, leaving the course with the confidence to program, collaborate thoughtfully with AI, and create systems that reflect their values and vision.

Workshop Description:
Computer Science A (CSA) introduces students to software engineering and object-oriented programming and design using the Java programming language. This curriculum covers a broad range of topics, including the design of solutions to problems, the use of data structures to organize large sets of data, the development and implementation of algorithms to process data and discover new information, the analysis of potential solutions, and the ethical and social implications of computing systems.

CSP introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. The AP Program designed AP Computer Science Principles with the goal of creating leaders in computer science fields and attracting and engaging those who are traditionally underrepresented with essential computing tools and multidisciplinary opportunities.
